OLLU proudly serves veterans by participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program
OLLU is proud to announce its participation in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program. Participating in the program allows OLLU to further serve veterans and their families.
The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, which allows institutions of higher learning to enter into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to fund tuition expenses that exceed the annual cap for students enrolled in private institutions. The program joins OLLU’s Active Duty Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships for active-duty personnel who receive government tuition assistance (TA).
“Participating in programs such as the Yellow Ribbon Program and the Active Duty Scholarship Program demonstrate OLLU’s commitment to military service members, veterans and their families,” said OLLU President Sr. Jane Ann Slater. “We are proud of their service to our country and assisting them in completing their education is one way that OLLU can thank them for their service.”
Only veterans entitled to the maximum benefit rate of 100 percent (based on service requirements) or their designated transferees are eligible for Yellow Ribbon Program benefits. Per VA guidelines, active duty service members and their spouses are not eligible for this program, but they are eligible for the OLLU Active Duty Scholarship Program. Child transferees of active duty service members may be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program if the service member is qualified at the 100-percent rate.
In addition to the Yellow Ribbon Program, OLLU also offers many other benefits, including the Montgomery GI Bill, VA Vocational Rehabilitation, Post-Vietnam Era VA Benefits, Survivors/Dependents Education Benefits and the Selected Reserve-Montgomery GI Bill.
OLLU will provide funding for 60 undergraduate and 10 graduate/professional students under the Yellow Ribbon Program for the 2013-2014 academic year. The program is available to students in all degree programs offered at OLLU. There is no cap on the number of students eligible for the Active Duty Scholarship or other VA benefits.
