OLLU announces online Master of Science in Accounting
Under more pressure to make sure organizations’ books add up, accountants need in-depth expertise to keep accurate financial records under more stringent regulations. They can get it through the Master of Science in Accounting program at Our Lady of the Lake University. This program is now offered in the online format, a convenient option for busy working professionals.
Coursework in the 30-credit-hour online program mirrors the rigorous curriculum of the campus version: Students study federal tax research; organizational management; accounting for the business, nonprofit and government sectors; professional ethics; and the roles and responsibilities of the executive accountant, among other relevant topics. Coursework is entirely online except for two campus residencies, during which students will have the chance to work with instructors and fellow classmates face-to-face. Full-time students can complete the program in one year. Part-time students can complete the program in less than two years.
“OLLU has a strong on-ground MSA, so putting it online to offer the same opportunity to others is a natural extension of our mission,” said Bob Bisking, Dean of the School of Business and Leadership.
OLLU’s master’s degree in Accounting is certified nationally by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), an accrediting body that focuses on teaching excellence. Faculty members use their real-world experience to make coursework relevant and work closely with students, both in the course and one-on-one, to ensure a successful learning experience. The online environment fosters diverse perspectives, with students of varying backgrounds from all over the country coming together in discussion forums to analyze problems and offer potential solutions.
Upon graduation, students with an online graduate degree in Accounting from Our Lady of the Lake will have advanced analytical skills and management expertise, qualities that are clear assets in today’s job marketplace.
