Dr. Bisking receives Yellow Rose of Texas Education Award

Robert Bisking, PhD, Dean for the School of Business and Leadership and Interim Dean for the School of Professional Studies and the Worden School, was honored with the Yellow Rose of Texas Education.

The award is presented by the Constance Allen Heritage Guild for Lifetime Learning, a nonprofit organization that was started by the past presidents of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. of San Antonio.

A retired Naval Officer, Bisking came to OLLU in 2004 as an assistant professor. Shortly after, he was named interim dean of the School of Business and Leadership and in June 2005, he was named as the permanent dean. Under his leadership, the School of Business and Leadership has expanded to Houston and the Rio Grande Valley, added several new programs, and increased enrollment.

After taking on the duties of dean with the School of Business and Leadership, Bisking was also named the interim dean of the School of Professional Studies and the Worden School of Social Service. He is still serving in both positions.

OLLU has been represented almost every year since the Yellow Rose of Texas Education Award program began in 1993. More than 25 faculty members and Sisters from the Congregation of Divine Providence have received the award.

The Constance Allen Heritage Guild for Lifetime Learning is a memorial to Constance Allen, a dedicated educator and charter member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. of San Antonio. The Guild was chartered in 1986 to provide scholarship grants and other financial aid to assist deserving individuals in furthering their education.
