More than 300 students complete studies
More than 300 OLLU graduate and undergraduate students completed their studies and took part in graduation ceremonies May 4 at Freeman Coliseum. Rev. David Garcia, director of the Old Spanish Missions for the Archdiocese of San Antonio, served as the commencement speaker.
Fr. Garcia, who is responsible for San Antonio's four 18th century missions which are active parish churches and part of the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park, reminded students to use their gifts and talents in service to others and to improve the world.
The ceremony marked the first graduation exercise during which OLLU's new President Sister Jane Ann Slater, CDP, PhD, handed out diplomas. It also marked the last commencement exercise conducted by OLLU Registrar Norma Anderson. She will be retiring from OLLU after more than 40 years of service.
